After the Internet portal “Google” had to answer to the Italian courts regarding illegal gambling advertising, the proceedings now took a new turn.
In the first instance, the internet giant was sentenced to a fine of 100,000 € by the supervisory authority for communications AGCOM.
Google, however, did not want to put up with this and appealed.
Now it seems that things will turn out well for the search platform after all.
The court was convinced that not Google, as a service provider, but the actual advertiser, as the creator of the advertisements, is responsible for the content of the advertisements.
Thus, the hoster (Google) gets off lightly and in future the main focus of criminal prosecution will certainly be on the creator of the advertisements.
